New Years Resolutions

Wow, that weekend went by really fast. Even with some vacation time off, I can’t believe it’s Monday already. I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday day in the mountains skiing. It was a blast, and then I came back on Saturday night for a birthday party. Sunday started with church and then was spent running errands, catching up on work, and mostly getting ready for the week. Now that I’ve caught you up on my life, I wanted to chat with you about New Years Resolutions.

Honestly, I’m not great at Resolutions. Last year I wrote about some goals for the year including that wanted to do a triathlon and read 12 books a year. I have a hard time with the people who completely change their lifestyle for New Years resolutions. My mantra is that balance and moderation regarding exercise and food are always the best way to go! Then you don’t have to make drastic changes for New Years or life events.

2017 Goals

To be honest, I had forgotten about this post, and in the first draft of the post, I said “last year I never wrote about my goals.” Oops searched for the wrong tag lines on my own blog!

Goals completed- become a certified personal trainer, read 6 books throughout the year, keep up on my magazine (magazines are great for travel days OR mornings I wake up before my friends when we are out of town), make homecooked meals, finish The Bible in a Year. I finished The Bible in a Year on like Dec 20th, but I’ll still take it as a win.

Goals that didn’t get accomplished- Become certified in group fitness and get a part time job in personal training and group fitness. I really wanted to do this, but I wasn’t finding the right position with my qualifications. Then it became fall and got closer to busy season for my job. Honestly I’m not sure if those are goals for this year, and I think thats okay. Try to eat healthy while out of town usually I do well at this, but I could improve on dinners. When I eat with work, I usually chose the meal I want by try not to eat all the HUGE portions, or try to eat the meal over two meals. My family talked about going on a trip to Europe which didn’t happen, but I didn’t go on an AMAZING trip to Banff.

2018 Resolutions

Isn’t it weird to write 2018? Wasn’t it just 2008 when I graduated high school? Or 2012 when I graduated undergrad? Nope, I’m getting old.

1. Read 12 books a year again. Book club will help with this, and I really enjoy listening to books.
2. Be less messy! I have such a hard time keeping my apartment clean. It’s mostly clutter, but since I live alone I just let it pile out. I would like to put my coats and clothes away whenever I change.
3. Do my dishes! For some reason I always leave my dishes around because I can. If I get in a habit of doing them right away, it will be an easier task.
4. I really want to do a half ironman. Life goals are to do a full ironman, but thats not in the cards right now. If my health cooperates, I’ll do the Boulder Half Iron Man in August. I’ll do an updated health post here soon, I got some answers but still trying to figure it out!

What about you? Do you do specific resolutions?
