Earlier this summer, a few of my friends decided to book a weekend trip to Seattle. It was a good location for many reasons: inexpensive flights, new city to explore, short distance from Denver and San Fran, and relatives in town, aka a free place to stay! We had been talking about this trip for awhile, but we didn’t make any definite plans til we arrived. A couple of us reached out to friends for suggestions in the area. However, we decided to wing it a bit. NOTE: this would usually bother my type A planner self, but a relaxing unplanned weekend was just what I needed.
We went sailing on Puget Sound with my friends cousin. We drove to Shilshole Bay, and then we sailed to Poulsbo, WA. It was a cloudy and windy day on the water. Pro tip: take dramamine before getting on a sailboat. We had a lot of fun hanging out .Then we explore Poulsbo and Kingston before taking the ferry back to Edmonds. The ferry was very cool and I also recommend Slippery Pig brewery in Poulsbo- it was decorate do like the store Anthropologie!
We made a self-guided walking (and driving) tour of Seattle. We adventured around Pike Place Market (including the gum wall), Fremont neighborhood, Ballard neighborhood, and went up the Space Needle. The Space Needle and Pike Place were great tourist attractions that showed us the real heart of the city! We walked about 6 miles this day- I was impressed with us, and it was nice to explore while still getting exercise. I loved all the water and boats in Seattle.

Lake Serene and Bridal Veil Falls Hike. I loved hiking in Seattle because it was so GREEN. The nature was full of moss, and it was very different than hiking in Denver. The mountains in Seattle are very unique also because most of the city is at sea level. This causes the mountains to look sooo tall and beautiful! We wanted to go to Bridal Veil Falls and Lake Serene, but we only made it to the falls. We hiked, round trip, 5 miles. The hike had more hills than we expected. It was very beautiful. One day I want to make it to Lake Serene. After hiking, we went to the airport, and made it back to Denver.
I really loved Seattle, and I can’t wait for my next trip back! This was a really fun weekend with great friends!! We were able to sight see and spend a lot of quality time with each other which is sooo important.
