Last weekend I watched two of my best friends run the Pikes Peak Ascent. From what I’ve heard, this is an awesome race that is about 75% hiking up pikes peak, and trying to run on the flatter areas or parts of the switchbacks. Hiking Pikes Peak has been on my CO bucket list for a few years. One friend has already told me that I am doing this race next year. We will see, but I’m definitely interested in it. To qualify for Pikes Peak ascent, you need to have run a half marathon in 2:25 or marathon in 5:45 within two years.
After the race, we spent the night at Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is about 1-1.5 hours from Denver. This was a cool hotel, and it is connected with the Country Club of Colorado. There was a fitness facility with indoor and outdoor lap pools, a huge cardio and weight room. We were also able to rent boats and stand up paddle boards on the small lake.
I rented a paddle board for an hour and I did two sets of a work out from Self Magazine. I improvised it a little bit, and I brought the workout on a small piece of paper with me. Doing two sets of this workout and trying to paddle around the lake made for a great workout. My abs were pretty sore after this one!
Things I’m loving this week–
On Sunday night, we walked around the Broadmoor Resort property. The sunset was AMAZING over the lake.
Found the cutest coffee shop called Black Bear Coffee and Tea Lounge in Colorado Springs. They had great food and such a cute atmosphere. I got a good veggie breakfast burrito from here! I love checking out local places
I’m on a bit of a Kombucha kick these days. Kombucha is a beverage produced by fermenting sweet tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria. I got this great cranberry lavender Kombucha in Buena Vista, CO at the House Rock Kitchen! So tasty!
I really loved the House Rock Kitchen in BV. They had tasty bowls, an awesome homemade veggie burger, a great patio and lawn games, and this AMAZING Roasted Brussel Sprout Salad.
Hand me down jewelry. I got this jade ring that was originally my great Aunt’s at my family reunion. It’s cool to have this piece of jewelry to remind me of her!
