Hi everyone, how is your week going so far? Mine is pretty good, I had a really fun weekend in Central Wisconsin at my friends cabin. I got back to Denver early Monday morning, and then headed straight to work. I was a bit of a zombie yesterday, but I’m feeling a lot better today. Going to do a bike workout after work! Today I wanted to chat with you about my favorite podcasts.
A few months, I wrote a post about running without music. However, recently I’ve been listening to a lot more podcasts. This started when I was driving about 30 minutes each way to work. I started listening to Sermons and then podcasts. After joining a book club last year, I wanted to keep up on books. With marathon training, I haven’t had as much time to read and train. I go to bed right away when I lay down. So the solution has been podcasts and audiobooks when running.
Have you ever read any of the Freakonomics books? I think I started reading these books in college. They are SOOO interesting. They compare economics and the “Hidden Side of Everything.” There are 4 books in the series, and I just downloaded the 4th one. It came out in 2015, and I am excited to listen to it. Well getting back to podcasts…. Each week on Freakonomics, Steve Leavitt explores a different topic and its a fun listen.
This podcast started in 2016 by NPR. It interviews enterpreneurs who created large companies. One of my favorite episodes interviews the creator of Toms. Who knew that he had multiple successful businesses before Toms. I love learning about the risk that the enterpreneurs took and how it paid off to what their company is today. Almost all the company’s that are highlighted on the show are ones you have heard of. I wish I was as creative or risky as some of the people on the show!
I’ve been following Davida’s blog for a year or so now, and she recently launched a podcast. Davida interviews a variety of guests, usually women who have different perspectives.
Last weekend I was introduced to this podcast, we listened to the episode about sunscreen. I learned a lot, and then I realized that I had sunburn… A friend told me about their podcast about the Elon Musk Hyperloop recently. I plan to listen to it this week too.
In other news, I had so much fun at my friends lake! On Friday morning, 4 of my friends went on a morning run (about 9 miles). We didn’t exercise the rest of the weekend. It was rare for all of us to take 2 full days off. But we spent a lot of time on the lake, and a lot of time catching up with each other. We ate a lot of snacks, but our hearts were full. Sometimes your body needs some rest with good company.
Have an AMAZING Tuesday! Linking up with Amanda today
