Estes Park

Hi everyone! I was in Estes Park from Tuesday to Saturday of last week with my extended family. Most of my dad’s six siblings came to this reunion and some of his cousins. My cousins were there too and it was great to see all of them!

Estes is the closest town to Rocky Mountain National Park. RMNP was founded in 1915, and the National Park Service was created in 1916. There is a lot of great hiking there- check out Trails here. I did an easier hike one day to Dream Lake, Nymph Lake, and Emerald Lake. The views were amazing! This hike was family friendly- we parked at the Park and Ride and took a bus to the Bear Lake Trail. The shuttle bus was easy to find and pretty convenient. There were so many people at the trailhead that day

The other hike I did was from the Bierstad Trailhead about 4 miles to Holwell Park. It wasn’t crowded and there were beautiful views, waterfalls, and a moose!

When we were in Estes, we usually ate at the YMCA of the Rockies but we ate in town a couple of times. I highly recommend the food at Baldpate Inn– it’s a historic hotel, they have awesome bread, salad, soup, and homemade pies! I also ate at Wild Rose, it had a lively atmosphere, including tvs to watch the Olympics!!!  They had tasty sandwiches and pasta!
