Happy Wednesday, back at ya from sunny Denver. The snow on Monday really freaked me out and made me nervous for a cold winter. Luckily it didn’t last long, and it has melted by now. This week has been going fast, and I’m back on the road again on Sunday for work. I’ll have to do some serious laundry this week and then repack again. Have you been having a good week?
As you know, I was planning to run Chicago Marathon but due to some health issues, I was unable to run. I still went to Chicago for a work trip and to visit friends. The couple days I was there for work went really fast, and then I stayed with my college roommate for the weekend. My friend from Denver and San Fran both came in for the race, so it was fun to spend time with them.
On Sunday morning, I got up for the race and headed toward mile 9 to try and see as many people as I can. The Chicago Marathon had a really good app for spectators to be able to watch the race. I didn’t realize this until the end of the day, but you can live track by location for each person. It was really handy. The app also tells you the 5K, 10K, 15K, 20K, half marathon, 25K, 30K, 35K, 40K and finish time. At mile 9, I saw two of my friends, and then after awhile I went down toward the half marathon split. I was able to see a couple friends at that area too. Then I found a few friends at about 25.5 mile and we were able to see a few of our friends there.
The race was sooo cool. At all the points I watched the race, there were so many people running. There were also so many spectators. My friends said that the whole race was full of spectators which is really awesome. I’ve run a few smaller races that didn’t have many spectators. One negative I heard from the runners is that the gatorade wasn’t watered down much, and it upset some peoples stomachs. Also it was 70 degrees and sunny by the time the race ended.
I would highly recommend spectating and running Chicago Marathon! Blogger problems, I didn’t take any pictures, but I had a lot of fun. I wish I was running with my crew, but I had a fun day.
