Hi everyone, happy Wednesday. Did you have a great weekend? I am so happy after a long weekend away from work and being able to see friends. My college roommate was in town, and we were able to hang out from Friday until yesterday afternoon. It was a busy weekend with activities, but I had an AWESOME time. Now that I’m heading back to work, I’m already looking forward to the upcoming weekend. Only 3 work days standing between us. Today I wanted to chat with you about caffeine.
My caffeine habits (past)
Thankfully, I didn’t start drinking coffee until the end of college and beginning of work. But I drank caffeinated tea for most of college. I definitely needed caffeine of some sort during finals and big exam weeks. However, I was never super dependent on in until post grad. After college, I was taking the CPA exam and working a lot of busy season hours and I became accustomed to two cups of coffee a day. One cup when I got to work, and one cup after lunch. Drinking two cups of coffee (with a lot of milk) became very normal to me.
My caffeine habits (today)
I decided to cut back on coffee last fall, and today I drink 1-2 glasses of tea (with milk) a day. Occasionally (once a week or once every other week), I will have a cup of coffee because it sounds tasty or fun. I try not to depend on tea or coffee in my everyday life. When I was in college, I read Skinny Bitch (and became a veg after) there is a chapter about caffeine. ““You should not need anything to wake up. If you can’t wake up without it, it’s because you are either addicted to caffeine, sleep deprived, or a generally unhealthy slob. It may seem like the end of the world to give up your daily dose, especially if your rely on Starbucks as a good place to meet men. But it’s not heroin, girls, and you’ll learn to live without it.” –Rory Freedman
I try to live by that motto, but I’m not always successful. Also, I have learned that my stomach issues are minimized when I don’t drink coffee.
Tell me, what are your caffeine habits?
